Planning estimate only — not employer exact withholding. Federal tax uses IRS 2026 brackets and FICA follows the SSA wage base. Local payroll taxes are excluded unless modeled on a dedicated page. See Sources & methodology for all citations.

How this is calculated

This calculator uses the same paycheck estimate engine as the main paycheck tool. It annualizes your gross pay from the pay frequency you choose, applies 2026 federal income-tax brackets and standard deductions, then subtracts employee FICA and a state income-tax estimate.

The results show three views of the same estimate: net pay per paycheck, monthly net (annualized ÷ 12), and annual net. Optional 401(k) and health insurance inputs reduce taxable wages before the estimate runs.

This is a planning estimate, not exact employer withholding. Local payroll taxes are excluded unless you use a dedicated jurisdiction page such as California or Philadelphia.

Formula

Take-home pay = gross pay - federal income tax estimate - state income tax estimate - Social Security - Medicare - pre-tax deductions

Numbers and assumptions are documented on our Sources & methodology page.
